1. plants in soil mostly need watering when the soil feels dry if you stick your finger in, about once a week.
2. plants in water just need to be topped up whenever.
3. hydroponic basil thing needs to be topped up to the "fill to here" line inside the tankard about every other day. you just lift the black cover and pour water in. i unplugged it and put it in the dining room near the window.
